Our Instructors The instructor rank is the only black belt rank that can not be tested for. Only dedicated black belts who have exhibited a strong desire to pass on their knowledge, and have taught a regularly scheduled class for at least one year, are considered. Instructors find it an honor and responsibility to be awarded this rank. The fact that teaching is on a voluntary basis, also speaks to each instructors dedication to the martial arts and loyalty to our school. Golden State's teaching staff of 14 instructors have a combined total of well over 200 years of teaching experience. All have received their rank from either Golden State or its parent school, Mackowski's Taekwondo. Each instructor has his or her own individual expertise, including such additional skills as kickboxing, judo, karate, wrestling, hapkido, jujitsu, and wing chun. Instructors are encouraged to incorporate into their teaching information and techniques learned from these alternate styles. Golden State is certainly unique among martial arts schools in its ability to offer such a variety of experience and expertise. Instructors who teach a regularly scheduled class are shown below.
